God is IN the Details…

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can be a little abrupt and disorganized. Don’t get me wrong, I have the capacity to be extremely organized and strategic, but it’s definitely in doses.  The thing is,  I am  just not naturally “wired” that way. If I want to be well-organized, I have to really put in the effort because my organization and meticulous skills come and go in phases. Since this is something that I am actively working on, I was truly enlightened and inspired by Jesus’ attention to detail in today’s passage, found in  1491263408617Matthew 21: 1-11.

We find Jesus instructing His disciples to go and get a donkey and colt just before He is entering Jerusalem for the first time.  After the disciples follow Jesus’ instructions we find out why He has made such a unique request in verses 4-5,

This took place to fulfill the prophecy that said,  ‘Tell the people of Jerusalem, look at your King is coming to you.  He is humble, riding on a donkey –  riding on a donkey’s colt.”

What inspired me was,  Jesus  is preparing to make His debut into Jerusalem,  and He is not focused on his own agenda, He is focused on the details that His Heavenly Father has already spoken through His Prophet. Jesus could have entered into Jerusalem haphazardly, but instead, He realizes that God had a strategic plan in place for His entrance. So He focuses on entering the RIGHT way.

As I read and wrote this passage, I kept thinking, “GOD IS IN THE DETAILS!” Unlike me, God is perfectly strategic in all that He does. Order is His nature. When you and I make a request to God,  He doesn’t simply deliver the request,  He determines the Time and the Process that He will use to release what we have requested. This is why it is so important to fully trust Him. We have to trust not only WHERE He is leading us, but also WHEN and  HOW,  He chooses to get us there. Notice in the passage, the people knew who Jesus was as He entered Jerusalem.  Why?  Because He entered the WAY that God had determined He should.  Because He was obedient,  He never had to introduce Himself. When the people saw this man riding on a donkey, they remembered the words of the Prophet, and they knew this was Jesus.

The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked. And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee. (Matthew‬ ‭21:10-11‬)

They knew He was the One they had been waiting for, and this is why they worshipped Him.  Jesus demonstrates amazing  humility, obedience, and strength of Character in this moment!  He entered at the right TIME and the in the right WAY!  And the people cried out shouting,

Praise God for the son of David! Blessings on the One who comes in the Name of the Lord! Praise God in the Highest Heaven  (Matthew 21:10)

It would do us no good to obtain God’s promises, without the character or the humility needed to fulfill  His purpose in our lives through our Calling! The character to fulfill your Calling is built and strengthened through the process that God has ordained for you. Are you willing to trust God’s Timing and His Process? In doing so,  your success is inevitable! We will experience purpose-filled lives if we are bold enough to stop busting down doors introducing ourselves, and let our obedience, strength of character, and humility declare not only who we are, but also, Whose we are, and WHO has sent us! The goal of a purpose-filled life is bringing glory to God. We do this by doing things His Way!

Tonight’s Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for your Word that is ALWAYS relevant. We thank you in advance for courage and wisdom. Courage to trust Your Whens, Hows, and Wheres, and the wisdom to know when you are holding us in a process to strengthen our character for our calling . Help us to be confident in the Way you have prepared for us to go, and help us to humbly stay there until You say, “It’s Time”.  May we trust you, and not get antsy, not give up, and not lose focus.  Thank you for encouraging and inspiring us through Your Holy Scripture.

In Jesus’ Name,  Amen.

Until Next Time, Keep your hope LIVING!

Sincerely,

Delanea D.
