Before There Was A White House

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

-Jeremiah 29:11

The days we are living in are the type of times where we can easily allow ourselves to be so consumed by things that we have no control over, that we neglect what we do have control over.

So tonight, I am interrupting my scheduled post to sincerely check in with you and ask each of you,

How are you taking care of yourself right now?

I know there is A LOT going on outside of you that you can’t control, but you are responsible for what’s happening INSIDE of you.

Have you found yourself glued to some form of media all day tracking results, and considering unending, “What-if” scenarios? Are you beginning to feel anxious with each passing day that this waiting game continues?  Are you “un-following’ and deleting people from your “Friends” list because they too, are coming equally unglued by this process, and their opinions are different from yours? Is your anxiety now morphing into fear as this tarries on?

If you can relate to any of the above,  I want to encourage you to BREATHE. Yep, I want you to relax your shoulders, breathe in deeply, and exhale.  This will help you to release the tension from your body.

All of the things that are going on outside of you are indeed happening.  There is uncertainty and chaos unfolding right before our eyes, but in the midst of all of that, I want to encourage you to recognize that there is another option.  You don’t have to be consumed by these things that are outside of your control. Instead you can re-direct your focus to God, who is the source of your Peace.

I stopped by specifically to encourage you to,

R E S T.

The reality is, if you voted, or even if you didn’t, your part is done! Everything else is out of your control. This is the part where you Trust God with the outcome.  I would even encourage you to deliberately spend time speaking your concerns to God, and giving them to Him, and leaving them with Him.

The beauty of God’s love for us is that He welcomes us to bring our burdens to Him, and leave them.

Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.

-Matthew 11:28, GW

However this turns out, you are not forsaken.  God has not forgotten about you, nor has He hinged your personal victory on the outcome of a Presidential election. When you place your confidence in Christ, you are VICTORIOUS, period.  There is not a situation nor circumstance where you don’t win!

Your victory was scheduled before You entered the earth, and before there was a White House, so lean into the Peace that is available in resting in God. Trust that He has good plans for your life, and know there is NOTHING or NO ONE great enough to stop His Favor over you.

I have no idea what is going to happen in the days to come, but I am deliberately keeping my hope anchored in the certainty of God’s Love, I am resting in His Peace, and I am praying fervently that His will prevails here in the earth. I am also praying that you would receive the courage to do the same.

[Jesus said], “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

-John 14:27, NIV
