“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”

Zechariah 4:10, NLT 

The trap is to make you think you need hundreds or thousands of people to validate what God has given you. BEFORE you trust what He told you to do.

Right now, you may be reading this message from the ditch of complacency, feeling sorry for yourself because it seems like everything you do, you end up in the same place. Meanwhile, as you look around at others, it seems like everyone else is outpacing you.

May I offer you this thought,

Could it be you’re expecting completion, where God is giving you the grace to lay the foundation for what He has shown you?

Let’s face it, the vast majority of people, myself included, are not comfortable starting something new. New beginnings come packaged with uncertainty.  With very few guarantees, it’s easy to get  so consumed with the “hows” and “whens”  that quitting, before you invest too much, may seem like a wise option. But what if you’re wrong?  

What if the crux of your problem is your disrespect for small beginnings?

As long as your disrespect for small beginnings persists, you will be stuck in a constant spiral of stagnation. The reality is,  God often shows us glimpses of the completed work, while offering us a seed to begin the work He has shown us.  If your perspective is off regarding the seed, you may toss it to the side, missing its true value. 

But why?  Why does God give you a seed, instead of handing you the completed work?  

God cares about your character, MORE than He cares about your success!

Being faithful to your small beginning grows your character.  Here’s the reality, people are attracted to,

C O N F I D E N C E, ⠀
Not products or services! ⠀

Your confidence grows when you trust God at the beginning, and do what He says. As you put action behind that trust, not only will your confidence grow, your character will also grow, and ultimately, your impact will grow! ⠀⠀

God wants you to start, “He rejoices to see the work BEGIN.” There will not be a “perfect” time to begin, so do it NOW! Do it afraid. Do it without support. Do it with tears.

DO IT IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC!! 

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start, here you go, THIS IS IT! The longer you delay the character-building that comes with small beginnings, the longer you delay seeing the manifestation of what God has shown you.

It benefits you to respect small beginnings because faithfulness over small things confirms you can be trusted with more.  So don’t be so thirsty for more  that you try to bypass faithfulness! Bypassing faithfulness will not get you the result God has for you.  

You may have great ideas, and great execution, but if you lack faithfulness, you are building on an unstable foundation! 

Let faithfulness, not notoriety,  not money,  not attention, be your focus, and watch what God will increase with your small diligent seeds of obedience! 

“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”  – Luke 16:10
